MintChip ID - Meant to be private?

Is it ok to broadcast / publicize a MintChip ID (the 12 digit #)?

It's not meant to be private is it?

Trying to negotiate a transaction between two 12 digit #'s is pretty ugly. It'd be nice to have have something human readable.
