Python language bindings ...

I realize there are no Python bindings, but if:
1. there was enough of the underlying implementation provided we could work on one (open source), or

2. if there was a C-binding it would be easy to make Python/Ruby/etc. bindings.

Think either of those are possible in a timely fashion?
